SLA Shared Private Road Drainage Improvemnet Fund establishment is designed to foster additional impactful nutrient reduction projects to help protect Skaneateles Lake.
To: Residents of privately owned roads in the Skaneateles Lake watershed
The Skaneateles Lake Association (SLA) is pleased to announce a small matching grant program for residents who share with neighbors a privately owned access road that has drainage problems resulting in sediment erosion reaching the lake. We, like you, want to do everything possible to prevent excessive nutrient runoff from getting into the Lake.
The total 2023 program budget, provided by SLA’s Legacy Fund is $50,000. It will be dispersed in up to $10,000 max awards to help you and your neighbors solve or substantially reduce drainage issues associated with your shared access road.
This is a competitive matching grant opportunity with simple rules. Submit online a brief proposal that summarizes the drainage problem. Include photos. Provide a description (with sketches if possible) of the intended correction(s) you and your neighbors want to implement. Tell us who will do the engineering and what service provider will perform the implementation. Applicants will need to contact their municipality to verify necessary permits associated with the proposed project. Preferably, the work should be completed before the end of 2023, but completion in 2024 is ok as well.
If the SLA decides to award the applicant a cost sharing grant (up to $10,000.00 or up to 50% of the total project cost, whichever is less), the grant will be paid after the work is satisfactorily completed after final review from the SLA project review team.
Proposals should be submitted online by clicking HERE. This opportunity is open until the available $50,000 overall program amount has been awarded.
Questions or assistance needed with the online form? Contact SLA Executive Director Frank Moses through the SLA Contact Us link at: https://skaneateleslake.org/contact-us/. (Questions only – Please do not submit proposals via the contact link.)
Thank you for considering supporting Skaneateles Lake through this opportunity.
